Tactical Weapons Courses

- Tactical Pistol Course -

Standard duty issue handgun and a good attitude are all that is needed to do well in this course. The course provides the Officer with the most important survival skill required of the patrol officer-- tactical marksmanship. This course will challenge every student, regardless of experience or shooting skill level. The course will review the fundamentals of pistol craft and briefly touch on "paper punching" skills; the remainder of the course is dynamic shooting and moving and advanced tactical shooting / survival skills that stresses the skills and techniques that are needed in a life or death situation. This course builds on the basic skills taught at the police academy, it is not a course for those with out basic handgun safety and shooting skills.

The first day starts at 10 AM because we do a night shooting exercise and finish at approximately 8 PM. We recommend the Officers bring their duty belt, mag pouches, minimum of 3 magazines and their "duty/carry" flashlight, we train with the actual equipment the Officers have… you will have to "go" with what you have in a worst case scenario.

750 rounds of training ammo is recommended for this class, (minimum 600 rounds).

- Patrol Rifle Course -

The patrol rifle course is for LEA Officers using iron sights or optics. The class starts by teaching the students how to teach the basic fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and safe handling, how to zero iron-sighted rifles and briefly touches on zeroing optic sights. Once on the range the class moves from confirming zero to basic marksmanship, tactical movement, the use of cover, firing positions, turns, using the "safety circle" concept, stress reloading, shooting on the move, multiple threat engagement, decision-making exercises and reduced light threat identification and engagement.

Two-10-hour days, the first day starts at 10 AM because we do a night shooting exercise and finish at approximately 8 PM. We recommend the Officers bring their duty belt, mag pouches, minimum of 3 magazines and their "duty/carry" flashlight, if your Officers have the light mounted on the rifle, that's even better, we train with the actual equipment the Officers have because… you will have to "go" with what you have in a worst case scenario.

Ammo and equipment needed:

  • Duty-type law enforcement patrol rifle, (rifle or pistol caliber is acceptable)
  • Sling for the rifle (Standard or tactical)
  • Minimum of 3 rifle magazines with a minimum or 20 round capacity, (30 round mags are okay)
  • 600 rounds of duty / training rifle ammunition (check your department policy).
  • Waterproof ground cover for prone zeroing exercises, elbow and knee pads.

  • Sniper Weapons and Equipment
  • Reporting and Recording Procedure

This is a 4-day, 10-hours per day course, we start the first 3 days at 10 AM and end at 8 PM because we do a night shoot the first night, the second and third day/nights we will be doing entry drills in the dark using the gun lights and limited light from the vehicles. During the daylight hours we work on shooting and moving drills, entry drills, Officer down drills and additional Immediate Action Drills needed for Officer Survival, and "plan-B" Drills in the event the primary entry point becomes a failed breach point. As the hours pass the drills become more complex with more problems for the Entry Team with less time to accomplish the mission.
